I enclose, as I promised over the
telephone, a specimen copy of the returns sent to us
from Hong Kong of arms and ammunitions exported to
china.
As you will see, the summary does not
give the value of the consignments, except in a few cases,
as Hong Kong found it impossible to obtain these without
considerable trouble. The figures are obviously useful,
however, if they can be obtained.
I should add that Hong Kong send us a
statement on the lines of the enclosed summary every
fortnight, and in aŭdition a weekly telegram giving
merely the total exports for the week. I enclose a
specimen copy.
